MASVINGO
– It will be a battle between the Lowveld and Masvingo
Urban when Renco Mine FC and Gaza
Gunners clash in the Sylvia Dube Memorial Cup final at a venue and date yet to
be announced after they both dispatched their rivals on penalties in their
respective semi final matches over the past weekend.

Renco Mine managed to overcome the odds by
beating fancied South Downs 5-4 on penalties at Gaza Stadium in Chipinge on
Saturday.
The teams had drawn 1 all in regulation
time in a tense match which could have easily been mistaken for the final.
Renco had dumped Una Una out of the
memorial cup via a similar penalty shootout at Renco Mine Stadium in the
quarter final a fortnight ago.
Gaza Gunners also went past the lottery to
upset Ruwa United 4-2 on penalties after the teams had failed to separate each
other in 90 minutes of open play at Chishamiso Stadium in Chiredzi.
Gaza Gunners were 2-0 shock winners over
Moses Chunga’s much fancied Hippo Valley in the quarter finals.
The Eastern Region Division 1, Sylvia Dube
Memorial Cup is wholly sponsored by the ZIFA Board Chairman Cuthbert Dube to
the tune of $10 000 in memory of his late wife Sylvia Dube.
Favourites Masvingo United and Hippo Valley
FC were both knocked out in the quarter finals.
