MASVINGO
– ZIFA Board Chairman, Cuthbert Dube is set to
grace the Eastern Region Division 1play off final scheduled for 30 November
when the top two teams of the on-going round robin clash at Mucheke stadium in
what promises to be an exhilarating closing match of the Division 2 season.

Dube last week embarked on a nationwide
tour starting in Gweru where he met with various stakeholders within the soccer
industry to identify challenges and map ways that organisations can use to develop
soccer in their respective regions.
He is set to visit Manicaland and
Mashonaland East during this month before coming to Masvingo were he will meet
with club boards and business people for the same reason.
Great Zimbabwe University (GZU), Chibi FC
and Huruyadzo FC of Chivi, Makuzha FC of Jerera, Gutu FC and FC Porto a brain
child of veteran premiership player Norman Togara are vying for the two
available slots in the second tier league next season.
The teams are schedule to play five games
in a one legged round robin with the top two teams playing the final on 30
November.
The first round of the round robin was
played over the weekend with GZU and Chibi United settling to a 2 all draw
while Gutu FC overcame Makuzha by a goal to nil.
Huruyadzo are in a more favourable position
on the six team log, having smashed four goals past ambitious Low-veld side FC
Porto guara
This Saturday Makuzha FC take on GZU at
Tshovani stadium in Mwenezi before Huruyadzo and Gutu FC battle it out at the
same venue. FC Porto will then clash with Chibi United later on to complete
round two.
Dube is sponsoring the winner’s shield and
medals in the final. At Mucheke he will be accompanied by the ZIFA CEO Jonathan
Mashingaidze and his Vice Chairperson Ndumiso Gumede.
