The introduction of e-learning has made research convenient as students can now access loads of relevant information at the click of a button without the hassle of sifting for information in hard copies.

For example, platforms like Brainstorm Academy, Zimbabwe’s first online educational social platform, offer students a variety of study guides within the Zimsec and Cambridge onsite.
The cardinal reason for developing the website is to provide quality academic material for primary and secondary students.

This is exactly what the Government has been advocating: constructive avant-garde synergies to develop the education sector.

“Through our services and expertise, we work with students, professionals, corporate and Government organisations to build a better education experience,” said Mr Lukaka.

“Brainstorm is free online educational platform because its our passion to give access quality education to Zimbabwean students.

“A Red Spot study pack is going for US$45 each and underprivileged students doing 10 subjects cannot afford to buy 10 Red Spot packs but using only one US dollar there can access a variety of 300 questions through their phones or internet cafĂ©,” he said.

Mr Chipangura reiterated that Brainstorm system was ready to meet international standards and had a number of protective systems to ensure that the platform was not hacked.

By visiting Brainstorm students can freely interact and share valuable academic information with their peers in various study groups available onsite.

The website has provided an avant-garde link between different students that are poles apart but doing the same subjects breaking the barriers of distance and space.

“Brainstorm will be an international academic bridge between local and foreign students in the near future,” said a source within the organisation that preferred anonymity.

At Brainstorm Academy there is a team of specialists that focuses on research and uploading academic material within the Zimsec and Cambridge syllabus every hour.

The Brainstorm management is yet to be accredited by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education as they said the former minister of education was not accessible to them.

Some primary and secondary students are already benefiting academic material available at Brainstorm.

Mr Brian Kahanga, an O-Level student at Princeton International School, applauded the website for making available required academic information at affordable costs.

“Brainstorm has provided useful academic material for subjects I am currently studying such as Biology, Integrated Science, Mathematics and English at an affordable cost.

“I have been able to freely access loads of relevant academic material including past examination questions and answers,” he said.

Mr Tendai Nhare said Brainstorm has made it possible for him to supplement O- Level subjects.
“I currently have other commitments and cannot be a full-time day student and Brainstorm has made it possible for me to supplement Biology and English at my own convenience.

“Through Brainstorm I can access as much as 100 questions different questions using one dollar, whereas on the streets or bookshops I would require more than just one dollar to buy the same number of questions,” he said.

Brainstorm data entry clerk Lionell Muchemwa assured the public that academic material and content available at the website said was credible.

“It’s presence will impact a positive change on our primary and secondary educational system as students across the country will be able to access loads of quality academic information as well as interact and discuss through the site,” he said.

Mr Bruce Chingoma said the platform allows students to ask each other questions and difficulties they may be facing in their studies.

“I belong to the economics study group and another called Geographers were we share valuable information and engage in constructive online discussions that tackle some of the problems and difficulties students are facing,” he said.

He said the need for schools across the country to facilitate internet services for students to engage in online socio- education.

Miss Mellissa Nyoni from Bulawayo said the platform has guided her in her studies.

“Brainstorm has been very resourceful giving me special advice on how to study and tackle some questions,” she said.

The success of local educational websites such as Brainstorm that caters for primary and secondary education needs the assistance and support from government to provide quality education to students.
Local educational institutions will constructively engage new technological synergies that will impart knowledge and information through advanced convenient communication systems beneficial to the nation as a whole.
